Bill 843 legislative changes in New Jersey – Murphy gives fixed-odds sports betting the green light
It’s true that nowadays, folks in New Jersey get to enjoy one of the most flexible gambling legislation in North America. Yet because Governor Phil Murphy signed a fixed-odds sports betting act, it means it’s about to get even more permissive. Well, at least for horse racing fans.
Indeed, because of the Fixed-Odds Wagering Act, patrons will soon be able to get fixed-odds on horse racing. This is instead of having to bet using the pari-mutual wagering system.
The word on the street is that the Fixed-Odds Wagering Act should get a go-ahead by the DGE sometime in September. The legislation shift will primarily affect Meadowlands Racetrack and the Freehold Raceway in NJ. Well, that’s if they can strike a partnership with BetMakers Technology Group Limited. Who, as we understand, is the only one to offer Fixed-Odds in NJ.
Will Pennsylvania change its Sports betting rule to make it more permissive?
Like many states, Pennsylvania is also looking for innovative ideas to help bars, taverns, and restaurants overcome the health crisis effects. For the Democrat member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, Wayne D. Fontana, one of the many ways the state could help out these small and medium businesses is to loosen up its gambling laws.
While the regulatory shift Fontana is proposing boasts few chances to get enough residents to support it. Or even lobby for it. The proposed amendment to Senate Bill 843 is worth discussing.

And, of course, 25% of the revenue they generate. Under the Terminal placement agreement, the state coffer would also get a boost of $10,000. And Operators wishing to associate themselves with a non-gambling venue would pay for the licensing fees.
While the idea is sound, some say this bill will not pass. Indeed, besides in Nevada, restaurants, bars, and taverns don’t have gambling facilities. And it’s something the opposing party will highlight.
But, Fontana would be wise to remind everyone that sportsbook revenue generated $308.8 million in the past year. And out of that, $250 million is the result of online wagers.
