Plaza Hotel and Casino – Why does downtown Vegas matter?
Before we take a look at exactly what we’ve got to look forward to at the Plaza, it’s worth taking a moment to consider its location. That’s why the works taking place at the Plaza Hotel and Casino matter quite so much.

The funds being committed to the Plaza are all part of a shared aim. Neighbours of the Plaza, as well as city leaders, have a vision for what they want the area to become. They want historic sites, such as the Plaza, to be in a position where they can offer new experiences and attract new clientele. Of course, there is a fine balance here as there is the need to ensure that loyal visitors are encouraged to stay so and they aren’t driven away.
Handled correctly, Main Street Vegas is set to become something really quite spectacular. As part of its revitalisation, it will be transformed into a must-visit destination. It will become famed for its art, dining, culture, hospitality, and, of course, its entertainment. The facelift at the Plaza is an integral part of this overall plan.
What have we got to look forward to at the Plaza Hotel and Casino?
Okay, so we know just why downtown Vegas matters so much, and we know about the vision for this area, but what exactly is going on at the Plaza Hotel and Casino? Well, the plans here cover four separate projects, each of which will add something special to the Plaza for customers to enjoy. Let’s take a look at these in turn:
The Carousel Bar
This will be the centrepiece of the stunning transformation taking place at the Plaza. It will see the porte-cochère, under the iconic dome, becoming a bar like no other. The outdoor experience will see guests enjoying the finest cocktails as well as a wide range of other drinks. The area will be filled with life-sized Vegas-themed objects such as a gigantic deck of cards and spinning martini glasses.
What’s really amazing about the plans here is that they retain the icon vintage Vegas lights that the dome is famed for. This new venue will span some 2,500 sq. ft. and will have seating for almost 100 guests.
Smoke-free, social media-friendly, gaming space
If the Carousel Bar isn’t enough, adjacent to this you will find another first for downtown Vegas. What’s planned is downtown’s very first smoke-free, and social media-friendly, gaming area. Within this area, customers will be treated to the very best, and most advanced, slot machines around.
This is set to become the go-to location for fans of slots that have seen titles being played by social media influencers. The whole area is set to encourage sharing across social media platforms, with backgrounds that are selfie-friendly and allow for the best pictures to be taken. At 2,500 sq. ft. there’s certainly plenty of space and you can be sure that there will be plenty going on in this unique gaming area.
Oscar’s Patio
This is set to be yet another first for downtown Vegas as the Plaza will be offering the first al fresco dining space in the area. This is set to be located on the rooftop deck just above the new space for casino games. The menu here will mirror that on offer at the hotel’s award-winning restaurant so customers can be sure of the finest quality around.
This new, rooftop setting, will be big enough to accommodate 225 guests. It is set to be an amazing location that has stunning views to match the top-quality food and drink.
Pinkbox Doughnuts
On Main Street, you will find the entrance to Pinkbox Doughnuts is a little different. You will find yourself walking through an oversized 3D doughnut, complete with sprinkles, as you head to the only place to visit to satisfy a sweet tooth.
Inside, you’ll see a 16-foot-long glass display cabinet. That may sound big but bear in mind that this location is set to carry the full range of over 70 flavours. there will also be alcoholic doughnuts and milkshakes on offer. The addition of Pinkbox Doughnuts will no doubt be a major hit with customers and is sure to attract even more people through the doors.
