The all-new Horseshoe Las Vegas casino

If you’ve missed the news, there have been changes taking place in Las Vegas. The biggest of these has seen Bally’s now being known as the Horseshoe Las Vegas casino. It was a little over 12 months ago that Caesars made the announcement that the rebrand would be going ahead. Things didn’t go quite to plan, with works having been set to complete at the tail end of 2022. The extra 3 months or so, we’ve been told, were worth the wait.

The Horseshoe brand is one that goes hand in hand with Las Vegas. It’s been associated with the area, and gambling generally, since as long ago as 1951. What’s new, however, is that this is the first time that Horseshoe has made its way to the Vegas Strip.

A commemoration and celebration

The unveiling couldn’t take place without major fanfare. Caesars sought to mark the occasion by bringing Jack Binion to the Vegas Strip. It was the Binion family who had been behind the original Horseshoe casino that had been featured in downtown Vegas. Binion isn’t just associated with the original Horseshoe. He’s also a member of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Hall of Fame, as well as belonging to the American Gaming Association.

The Horseshoe brand has now gone from downtown Vegas. What takes its place now bears the name ‘Binion’s Gambling Hall and Hotel’. The rebranding was an occasion to remember, with Binion presenting representatives from Caesars with a horseshoe coming from his own ranch. The celebrations also included a touch of nostalgia, with showgirls featuring in original costumes dating back to the Jubilee.

The Horseshoe name is one that Caesars has been using as a major programme of rebrands over the last couple of years. This sees the 10th property completed, taking on a name that’s instantly recognizable.

The rebranding work has led to some pretty spectacular results. The 2,800 hotel rooms had just been refurbished before the COVID-19  outbreak and so are still in top-notch condition. Where the big work has taken place is across the common areas and the casino floor. Here, there is an entirely new look and feel to what was once Bally’s. With the Horseshoe name proudly displayed, there are also a host of new leisure activities to enjoy as well as stunning new restaurants. You’ll also find brand new gambling areas to explore.

What else is new at the Horseshoe Las Vegas Casino?

Anyone who frequents the strip will have already seen tasters of what the Horseshoe was set to offer. With the work lasting over a year, people have been noticing the changes that have been taking place. There have been new amenities appearing, and it’s been hard to miss what’s been going on. What’s different now is that people have the chance to view the transformation in its entirety and see just what’s changed as Bally’s has become Horseshoe.

One thing that has been done away with is the full-service sportsbook. In its place, there is now an arcade that caters for all ages. That doesn’t mean that sports betting has been abandoned on the strip completely. Instead, you’ll now find a betting counter to cater for sports wagers on the hallways at Paris.

When it comes to new restaurants in the casino, the 2 that really have people talking are the Jack Binion Steak and the M. Y. Asia. These are already up and running, and due to open during the summer months is Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Sports Kitchen.

As you explore the casino floor, the first thing that strikes is that everything just looks so much brighter. Something else that really stands out is the World Series of Poker Hall of Fame Poker Room. This is the world’s first and comes in the form of an impressive 4,900 square-foot space featuring 18 new tables.

Work is still in progress to perfect the entrance to the poker room. This will be a fitting tribute to the world’s very best poker players, who have made it into the Hall of Fame.

2023 will see the WSOP featuring at the Horseshoe Las Vegas

This will be the second consecutive year when the WSOP has featured on the Vegas Strip. This will be the 54th annual outing of the event and it’s set to run from May 30th to July 18th

Last year, the event was split between Paris Las Vegas and Bally’s. The action will be taking place at the same locations, only this time Bally’s is carrying the Horseshoe name. This is significant as the Horseshoe can be seen as the home of WSOP, with the first tournament being hosted there back in 1970.

Last year was a special year for the WSOP. There were just short of 2 million entrants from over 100 different countries. What made it even more special was the record-breaking prize fund. It hit an amazing $347.9 million. Caesars has high hopes that the fully re-branded Horseshoe Las Vegas casino will see records broken again this year.

What’s the future for Horseshoe Las Vegas?

As we’ve said, while the Horseshoe is officially open for business, there are still steps being taken to perfect what’s on offer. The first thing will be the Hall of Fame display that’s set to give the poker room its finishing touch.

Besides from the massive casino floor featuring all casino games one might expect; blackjack, roulette, slots, baccarat and video poker – there is plenty of non-gambling related forms of entertainment as well. As you take a look outside Horseshoe, there are exciting developments there too. First off, there’s Blake Shelton’s Ole Red venue that’s under construction. This will feature drinks, dining and entertainment when it opens its door before the end of the year.

In 2024, we’ll also see the opening of the Bottled Blonde. This is currently under construction and, once completed, will feature a pizzeria, beer garden as well as an impressive nightlife venue.

Final thoughts

While the Horseshoe name is the new kid on the block on the Vegas Strip, the Bally’s name is far from dead and buried. The name is hugely significant to the area and a return can’t ever be ruled out.
